Tetrad began in Lancashire in 1968 with a simple ambition: to create distinctive, beautifully made furniture with lasting character. Over more than five decades, the company has built a reputation for combining traditional upholstery skills with confident British design, creating pieces that feel as individual as the homes they become part of.
From early experimental designs to the rich leathers, woven fabrics and loose-cover collections Tetrad is known for today, the brand has continued to evolve while keeping craftsmanship at the heart of every piece.
In 1968, Alan Gibson, Bob Cooper and Jim Bolton came together with a shared ambition to create premium British furniture with character and individuality. The business began as Trident, before becoming Tetrad when a fourth director, Bill Hoole, joined the company.
From those early beginnings, Tetrad developed a reputation for doing things differently — embracing bold ideas, distinctive design and furniture with a personality of its own.
Tetrad has never stood still. From the bold, futuristic forms of its early years to loose covers, rich leathers, expressive fabrics and the diverse collections of today, the brand has continually evolved while retaining a character all of its own.
Since 1968, Tetrad has continued to evolve while retaining the individuality that has always defined the brand. Its collections span everything from elegant traditional forms to relaxed country styles and confident contemporary designs.
What connects them is a distinctly Tetrad approach — furniture with presence, personality and a sense that it has been created to become part of a home rather than simply occupy a space.
